Report from Life Science Open Space 2013

4th edition of Life Science Open Space conference took place on October 8th, 2013 in Krakow.

LSOS 2013 is a forum of Malopolska Region and Klaster LifeScience Krakow. This event is an opportunity foor entrepreneurs to present their business and technology offer and to make new contacts and cooperation both in the region of Malopolska and internationally. ‘Open space’ formula refers to the ‘open innovation’ concept (as well as ‘open mind’). It also encourages cooperation, boosts discussions and promotes the effective use of knowledge, skills, and mutual opportunities.

The idea of ​​the forum is to promote innovative solutions in the field of life sciences. This year we were sharing the ideas in the field of ‘Science and innovation for health and quality of life’.

This subject is vast, so among the presentations there were issues belonging to different technology areas, but they were all  bonded by a common idea – to improve the quality of life. During the conference, one could learn about mobile health technology, which enables monitoring the medical parameters at home; application which helps you to keep good health and fitness; modern methods for protein purification.

What catches the eye is a huge potential for innovation in Polish enterprises and organizations, which makes us optimistic about the role of Malopolska region as an incubator of changes. This year’s conference certainly provides new ideas for the next edition of the Open Space.
