About Morning Health Talks Series
Morning Health Talks is a highly positioned event series in 13 EIT RIS countries, part of the EIT Health RIS Programme. The mission is to develop local healthcare innovation ecosystems through productive stakeholder discussions. Such a dialogue should strengthen relationships and encourage collaborations and definite activities toward more mature ecosystems.
The “Innovative Hospital” concept has been introduced in LifeScience Krakow to address issues triggered by COVID-19, which posed several challenges for the healthcare systems worldwide. The notion is that hospitals need to innovate to maintain both the sustainability and the ever-growing demand for quality healthcare.
While the latter is a popular subject of discussions, embedding mainly innovations in medical technologies and upgrading skills, the former is less explored by businesses or startups due to complexity and a lack of scaling perspectives. Yet “Innovative Hospital” must be defined in a much broader perspective than medical technologies.

Summary of the previous events
From previous talks, we know that:
- The COVID-19 pandemic permanently changed global health care, from accelerating the adoption of new technology and care delivery models to increasing the focus on sustainability and resiliency.
- The future of health care needs to be organized around the NEEDS of the consumer rather than for the convenience of care providers.
- Hospitals can extend their function from being a service provider to an innovative community builder.

EIT Health Morning Health Talks 2025 – Kraków
Innovative Hospital: The transition of healthcare systems toward a resilient and sustainable care model.
The MHT 2025 in Krakow will continue the Innovative Hospital subject by focusing on organising hospitals to be sustainable, comprehensive care organisations that do not solely focus on curing. In the meeting hosted by John Paul II Memorial Hospital in Krakow on June 12th, we will focus on the transition toward ecologically sustainable, climate-neutral, and circular economy models in hospitals.
This subject was triggered by the new European project REHEAL (Reverse Healthcare Supply Chains for Circular Economy), which will start in Autumn this year. It opens the discussion about the elements to be considered on top of funds granted from EU programs, which are critical to successfully implementing green technologies, rethinking infrastructure, and redesigning care processes.
